Location

The main industry is tourism municipality, not in vain, thanks to him that its population has been multiplied by 16 since the '60s, taking advantage of the tourist boom of the neighboring municipality of Benidorm. Alfaz del Pi has the second largest colony of Norwegian citizens abroad (after London), at around two thousand residents registered.  The name comes from the Arabic word municipality alfaz, which means "fertile land", while the addition of pi is a Valenciana word meaning pine tree that was planted in the main square in 1786 by residents who wanted the independence of the town of Polop. This pine is over 220 years the symbol of the town. Alfaz del Pi finally became independent in 1836
